BKS Bank

Kvarner Banka (now BKS Bank) was established in 1993 in Rijeka as the first bank in Croatia with mixed capital ownership. From the year 2000 share capital of banks amounted to substantial HRK 60 million, divided into 600,000 ordinary shares valued at HRK 100.00 per share. The major shareholders of the bank at that time were Adria Consulting SRL Trieste (Italy), Riječka banka and Transadria.

From 2003 the Bank operates at the current address in Rijeka, Mljekarski trg 3, in its own representative business offices located in the heart of the city. In late February 2007 the largest single shareholder of the Bank became the BKS Bank AG of Klagenfurt (Austria). The actual monitoring and control function BKS Bank AG took over after a shareholders' meeting held in April 2007. Pursuant to the Decision of the Assembly of the Bank held in 2008 the Bank has changed its name to BKS Bank AG, thus formally marking the origin of the Branch Office. Under the new name BKS Bank continues to direct business strategies to contemporary forms of banking business and new services, confirming the image of a modern and dynamic small bank which follows the market demands and customer needs. In order to empower the Bank for a stronger market performance in mid-September 2008 the first branch office in Zagreb was opened.

In parallel with these activities considerable efforts and resources are invested to strengthen the IT support. In 2007 we introduced electronic banking for legal entities and implemented the program for domestic and international payments. During 2008 a new IT application support for full implementation and monitoring of the banking business was put into operation, which enables further development and the possibility of further expansion into new markets. Additional efforts of the Bank will be focused on the functional organization of business, the adoption and implementation of new technologies, training and educating staff, all for the possibility of providing quality services in line with market needs.
