Istarska kreditna Banka is an experienced operator in providing a wide range of financial products and services, and the main banking partner of many small and medium private enterprises. As a local bank called Istrian communal bank and savings, Umag Branch was established on 10 October 1956 and the beginning of IKB is closely related with the beginning of formation of the first banks in the area. In 1961 the independent banks in Poreština and Bujština area are established, and later in 1964 a merger of Municipal Bank Umag and Poreč Municipal bank created the foundations for Istarska kreditna Banka. Since then, the Bank has operated under its current name, constantly expanding since 1990 and operating as a limited company.
From its humble beginnings with just a few employees it has grown into an internationally recognized financial institution, and became one of the first privatized bank in Croatia, which now employs over 200 staff in 25 offices throughout Istria and Zagreb, Rijeka, Opatija and Viškovo. The Bank has a foreign exchange authority and all the financial affairs in the country and abroad performed through its wide correspondent network. The Bank is a member of forex, SWIFT, and is connected to the Reuters Money 2000 Service. The Bank is a member of MBU ATM network, and since 1998 a member of the credit card organizations MasterCard (formerly Europay) and Visa.
