The Croatian Postal Bank Inc. was founded in October, 1991 as a universal banking organization. It is authorized to conduct all banking/business operations both domestically and abroad.
The founding company and the bank's majority shareholder until 2001 was the Croatian Post and Telecom (HPT), when the newly founded Croatian Post took over.
By applying the best practices of other European postal banks, the bank has continued the tradition of Croatian postal savings associations, which have existed in Croatia since 1883.
The Republic of Croatia, via various pension and privatization funds and state owned companies, has been the bank's majority shareholder since 2001.
The Croatian Postal Bank is the largest Croatian-owned bank. It is also the seventh largest bank in Croatia, its assets totaling 14,5 billion Kuna. The bank's business strategy focuses on intense development of its retail network and new distribution channels.
The aim of the bank's strategy is to improve the bank's position in investment banking and small and medium size enterprise segment, to develop its product range and personal banking services for the general public, and to work on its image as a modern, business-oriented, highly efficient and the most easily accessible bank in Croatia.
